Seiðr Home and Business Spiritual Cleansing

The Norse had a deep connection to nature, to the Earth and the phases of the moon, and Norse spirituality has many similarities with shamanism around the world. They were also extraordinary craftsmen, very talented silversmiths and jewelry makers. In the Ancient Norse tradition, they also used Juniper for burning rituals in spiritual and shamanic healing, ritual purification, to invoke spirits and healing powers and to connect with their ancestors.

Seiðr is a collective term for the Norse wisdom and techniques, and it would probably land somewhere between religion and magic. Seiðr was considered a secret and sacred knowledge. It was mainly practiced by a Völva (VÇ«lva) - a female seeress, spiritual leader and healer, who practiced shamanism, witchcraft and magic. A man could also be a seer, but they did not receive the same respect as the female Völva. She had a deep understanding of healing herbs, energies, communication with the spirit world and the spiritual essence of all things like animals, vegetation, mountains and water.

The traditions of the Völva is very ancient, and their roots go back more than 2,000-3,000 years. She had a very special role within the society and she often had close ties with the leaders of the clan. She could put herself into a trans and talk to spirits around her. She would sing spirit-calling songs and magic chants, and play drums to attract the spirits and they would help her in her ritual and to see the future and the past. The word Völva means “carrier of a magic wand”, phrophetess or a wisewoman. This is my practice.

Here are a few ways I connect:

Utesitta (Sitting Out)

This is form of Viking or Norse meditation and coming in contact with spirituality and to seek answers, knowledge, wisdom or contact with goddesses, gods, ancestors or spiritual beings. There are similarities with Utesitta and a vision quest, practiced by Native Americans and Innuits. It was usually the Vövla who practiced Utesitta and she would sit alone, in the middle of the forest, on a high place with a view. Utesitta is done all night, from dusk to dawn.

Kura Skymning (Huddle during dusk)

This is like a “mini Utesitta” and you just sit calmly with the change between day and night and reflect and meditate. This can be done outside or at home.

Dansa Fylgjan (Dancing with Fylgja)

Fylgja is a supernatural being or spirit, that in Norse spirituality was seen as an alter ego that took form as an female animal spirit. So, very similar to a Spirit Animal. This is a type of ecstatic dance where you give your energy and focus to your fylgja and can connect to and see your fate.

These techniques are done during a ritual with intentions being focused on your needs.

Juniper is a sacred wood that has been used for burning rituals and for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. In the Ancient Norse Tradition they used Juniper in spiritual and shamanic healing, ritual purification, to invoke spirits and healing powers and to connect with their ancestors. The rituals were mainly practiced by a Völva - a female seeress, who practiced shamanism, witchcraft and magic.

I can cleanse your home or office of stagnant , negative and unhappy spirits and energy as a one time cleanse or monthly , this is up to you.

I only use the Swedish Native Juniper (Juniperus Communis Suecica). Not only is it a sacred pagan tree, it is also said that if there is a Norse Juniper in your house, the evil spirits will never enter your home. The Swedish Juniper has a clean and lovely aroma and a highly aromatic smoke. I have come across the Juniperus Osteosperma (native to the southwestern USA) but as lovely as that tree is, it does not have the same aroma.

Smudging is the burning of certain wood or herbs to create a cleansing smoke bath. This is done to purify a ceremonial and ritual space, ceremonial tools and objects (your mala beads or crystals) or to purify your home or a person. It is basically a ritual for cleansing, purifying and protecting the physical and spiritual bodies. And the effect of the smoke is to banish negative energies. Smudging can bring physical, spiritual and emotional balance.

During the Juniper smudging ceremony, the healing smoke will be fanned over your space, object or person you wish to cleanse. I either use my hand or just gently wave the Juniper stick in the air. I do a Juniper Smudging Ritual in my home a few times a year, with my moljinar, crystals, runes and my meditation alter whenever a feel a heavy energy. I suggest the same for your home or business.  I usually start with a seated meditation, play my favorite shaman drum music or healing repeat a mantra and through the smudging ceremony I connect to my breath, my Gods and keep my thoughts positive.

I will start at the front door and then walk clockwise through the home or business. Spend extra time in the corners as they tend to hold on to stagnate energy. As I walk through your house I repeat a mantra that I have prepared.

I will leave you with the leftover juniper and items and leave with all the negative energy and spirits banished.  Make sure you place your Juniper stick in a fireproof container, use caution while burning and do not leave unattended. You can store sand in your container and dipping the stick into the sand when you are done. Do not use water, and do not try to blow on the stick (it is considered to be disrespectful to the spirits).

I service a large service area in the Oklahoma area and I look forward to helping you achieve all that you want. Please let me know if you have any questions.
