Runic Keyboard (for PC)

The Rune Keyboard
For those who speak with symbols
This offering began as a practical tool.
But like many things in our world, it holds a deeper thread.
Runes were never just shapes.
They were sounds. Spells. Markings made with intent.
Carved, not scribbled. Spoken, not typed.
And yet—here we are.
In a time when digital space is part of our sacred practice.
When we send prayers through glass.
And mark meaning with our fingertips.
This keyboard was created by Sveinn Ullarson, a fellow threadwalker who crafted it first for his own system—the New Fuþork—but generously released it for others to use across rune traditions.
It works for:
-
Younger Fuþark (ᚠᚢᚦᚬᚱᚴ …)
-
Elder Fuþark (ᚠᚢᚦᚨᚱᚲ …)
-
Anglo-Saxon & Medieval runes
-
And yes, the New Fuþork he designed himself
It’s simple to install on any Windows PC.
(Mac and Linux users—you’ve not been forgotten. But your version walks a slower path… for now.)
How to Call It In (Install Instructions)
-

Your computer may warn you: “Are you sure you trust this?”
That’s its way of asking whether you trust hands over corporations. You decide. -
Once installed, use your normal keybind to switch between keyboards.
(Most Windows 10 systems use WINDOWS + SPACE. Older ones may use ALT + SHIFT.)
Select your language. Step into the thread.
Begin writing in runes.
Why It Matters
Because even now, the symbols remember.
Even when typed instead of carved, they carry sound and spell.
They echo with old names.
They remind us that even our tools can become sacred—
when we use them that way.
So use this well.
Not to play dress-up with history,
but to call something real back into the world.
Whispers from the Thread
Not everything sacred must be carved in stone.
Some things return through keystrokes.
Through breathless typing in the middle of the night.
Through a message sent to someone who still believes.
This keyboard is not ancient. But it reaches toward the ancient.
And if you use it with reverence—
it will answer like the old ones do.
Let your words carry weight.
Let your symbols mean something again.
And let what you write
be worthy of the runes.
